First class degree for Mark Coutts
Huge congratulations to our Project Design Engineer, Mark Coutts, who has graduated with a first-class distinction! Studying whilst working full time, and becoming a Dad for the first time, it’s been a busy few years to say the least. We are delighted that his hard work and commitment has been recognised with such a brilliant result.
Mark started his career journey aged 17 when he secured a place on the Modern Apprenticeship program, gaining valuable hands-on industry experience. He then went on to enjoy many years as a designer in the energy sector but always aspired to do more engineering-based work – identifying that his strengths lay in mathematics.
Whilst his four-year part-time degree – Bachelor of Engineering at the University of Teesside – meant evenings and weekends studying he said that it was all worth it:
“The completion of my degree led to a more senior role here at Brimmond and from day one I have been able to put what I learned at university into action – from calculations to in depth analysis. I’m passionate about continuing to learn and develop my career and I’m now learning more about hydraulic specific engineering with my manager through a tailored training plan. I would hugely recommend the Modern Apprenticeship program for anyone with an interest in engineering who’s just starting out, especially now that you can pair with a degree from the outset.”
Next, Mark has ambitious future goals of obtaining full Chartership status. If his degree efforts are anything to go by we have no doubts that this will be achieved too.
Well done Mark, we’re all proud of your achievements and delighted to have you on Team Brimmond.
